Breaking down stereotypes Autism and Down Syndrome

We must help our children develop vocational or career skills and have a happy family life
Support is very important and necessary to live a life worth living. It is clear that most people with disabilities have a hard time surviving daily, but with all our affection and understanding they can overcome.

Disability should not be an obstacle to success

Neurophysiological studies on brain growth back to the beginning of this century and they all lead to the same conclusion: The brain grows with use.

Therefore we should not set limits to children, or to any person, because there is always possibility of enrichment of every human being without exception, although their particular situation the person can not prove it. It is very important "to have confidence in the potential of every child and not determine the ceiling of their capabilities previously.

We must always begin with an attitude emanating from the philosophy scientifically demonstrable, that everyone can always evolve, we as man is an unfinished being, which is enriched, refined and evolved from the experiences of their surrounding environment. Today I do not ask whether a child meets some prerequisites or it does not, if you are in a stadium or another, or to what extent understand my posts.Instead I pose other questions:

- If your environment is accessible to him.
- If I am able to hear their microcompartamientos.
- If I keep a not only physical but emotional closeness.
- If you have generated a genuine empathy.
- If you really looking decidedly for this child.

Since changes are always possible, we must rethink our actions to accelerate, rather than the child capadidad.

Disability should not be an obstacle to success.

We must help our children develop vocational or career and have a happy family life.

Support is very important and necessary to live a life worth living. It is clear that most people with disabilities have a hard time surviving daily, but our affection and understanding everything you can.

It is clear that families want to continue to care for their own, but they need to provide to them the right tools to keep doing. We can not ignore that the family has experienced changes in social roles and family structure. That the welfare state has improved the quality of life and that we are now open more schools, rehabilitation centers, support for parents in which to develop personal, professional, self-realization, etc..

However, one thing has not changed. And, the responsibility for the care of the family still lies almost exclusively in women. And again, in the history of mankind, is the woman who must be able to "stretch" to continue taking on new responsibilities and more. Today must be able to continue caring for their own, but also has to develop a work activity, must be current, must learn new technologies. All this without being able to share the responsibilities of the traditional role of the family caregiver.

Are needed, therefore, changes in family structure to make this unit more egalitarian coexistence.

This requires, first, that work to:
- Raising public awareness of the important contribution to the welfare of family carers system.
- Promote a change in the mindset of citizens, to assume that all family members to work together in the caregiver task.
- Implement measures that allow to reconcile personal and professional life.
- Develop a comprehensive network of services.
- Provide legal character aid
techniques unifying and simplifying the procedures to be performed.
- Work in the law on personal autonomy.

The challenge for families is to agree on forms of action, to get satisfactory answers to these needs. And find and propose solutions to the difficulties we encountered.
